Abstract

The aim of this book is to describe the historical and political processes and mechanisms how non-Muslim (Greek, Armenian and Jewish) community schools of the Ottoman Empire were reduced into minority institutions. This study includes the time frame of 1774-1924. This book constitutes the first volume of a project on minority schools in Turkey.
