Abstract

Kit is a typeface system that shifts the norms of designing rounded typefaces based on conventional sanserifs. Instead, we reversed this process, which resulted in twin families that converse with each other rather than emulating each other. As eloquently summarized by Darden Studio, “Kit is a love song between two designers. Working together on twin fonts (Kit Sans and Rounded) to discover a perfect melody. Kit’s two subfamilies, each with 16 styles, could have been released alone but we couldn’t bare keep them apart.” The typeface was commissioned by Darden Studio in New York and is available (also in Variable Format) on Adobe Fonts.
