Abstract
A new model to predict saturated critical heat flux (CHF) conditions in
minichannels and microchannels was developed. The model was compared to 151
experimental data points obtained from mini- and microchannels that include various working fluids (Water, R-123, R-113, R-134a, and R-245fa) and a broad range of mass velocities (50-1600 kg/m2s) and pressures (101 kPa-888 kPa). The agreement between the model and experiments was good (overall mean absolute error (MAE) =25.8%), and it becomes particularly better for the experimental data obtained from thin wall/substrate minichannel and microchannel configurations (MAE=21.3%), which were not vulnerable to any boiling instabilities.
