Abstract

This thesis investigates Titanium Nitride (TiN) for its potential to enhance light harvesting efficiency in thin-film solar cells through nanoscale plasmonic light trapping. Using nanosphere lithography, plasmonic arrays of both Au and TiN are fabricated and integrated into Photovoltaic (PV) cells. A comparative study between these Au and TiN nano-structured arrays evaluates their fabrication process, plasmonic response, and impact on PV cell performance. Results investigate TiN as a feasible alternative plasmonic material for PV light-trapping to affirm the viability of TiN-based plasmonic enhancement in thin-film solar cells.
