Abstract

Combining implicit polynomials and algebraic invariants for representing and recognizing compli-cated objects is proven to be a powerful technique. There are several methods in the literature for determining algebraic invariants from the implicit polynomial coefficients of 2D curves under Euclidean, affine, and projec-tive transformations. In this paper, we compare the performance of these invariants for object recognition using a database comprising 337 Turkish carpet designs.
