Abstract

Machining efficiency and surface quality are directly affected by the static and dynamic rigidity of machine tool spindles. In this study, static and dynamic measurements on two different machine tool spindles are conducted. Rigidity comparisons of different axes for each machine tool are presented along with the comparisons with each other to determine their rigidity. In this paper, static analysis was conducted by applying loads on machine tool spindles and the dynamic analysis were performed by impact hammer tests.
