Abstract

In this paper, we investigate and compare the performances of minutia based system which relies on the orientation field and ridge frequency estimation, and correlation filter based fingerprint verification systems. Simulation results show that equal error rate (EER) of the minutia based system is around 1.7% which is much smaller than the EER obtained for correlation filters. This suggests that minutia based system is more robust to plastic distortion inherent in the fingerprint images.
