Abstract

In this paper, a novel technique is proposed for implementing High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) fractional interpolation (FI). The proposed technique reduces number of additions by decomposing coefficients of the FIR filters. In this paper, an efficient HEVC FI hardware is also designed and implemented using the proposed novel technique. The proposed HEVC FI hardware has higher speed, smaller area, and lower power consumption than HEVC FI hardware in the literature.
