Abstract

SESAME with an energy of 2.5 GeV will be an extremely powerful source with applications in a wide range of fields including pharmaceutical R&D, medicine, microchemical analysis, environmental and archaeological sciences and industrial micromachinary. Beamlines for the first phase of operation have been identified in close cooperation with users. These will include experimental stations for macromolecular crystallography, small- and wide-angle X-ray scattering, X-ray absorption, infrared and powder diffraction. Possible schemes and collaborations for the design and construction of the beamlines and research projects that will be carried out on the beamlines will be discussed.
